Blog #9 New Show Formats

The 4D light show presented by Ralph Lauren on Madison Avenue stirred up quite the chatter.  The most creative part of this marketing tool was not just showing their porducts in 4D bright lights, but showing the lifestyle of the brand and positioning Ralph Lauren in hundreds of consumer's minds!  New technologies have led designers to find exciting ways to bring fashion to customers other than just fashion shows.  Its important that designers keep up with these advancements in order to properly communicate their brand image.

Blog #8 Look Book

http://www.gucci.com/us/category/f/women_s_ready_to_wear

Gucci's Look Book can be found on their website.  A Look Book allows a customer to look deeper into a line.  It shows the garments put into outfits, on models, and sets a tone for the line.  It allows the consumer to view the garments as a lifestyle and it paints the full picture then presenting a more convincing selling point.  If someone can see a product in use the way it was intended to be presented, the idea is clearer and perceived more efficiently.

#7 Trunk Show Youtube Video

This Trunk Show takes place on an early morning talk show in Vancouver showcasing children's wear for Sping/ Summer.  These items were all designed and made by local designers.  This is a great way for designers to get their name out and for people to observe new fashions and trends for upcoming seasons!

#6 Fashion Video

This video I chose was a great peak inside New York Fashion Week Sping 2011.  This video showed an array of fashion runway shows, personal conversation with designers, and some specific thoughts, ideas, and insights of fashon gurus during the legendary fashion week adventure!  Its great to see as an "anybody" sitting at home on your computer you can access such valuable fashion information whether you live on campus at FIT or in midwest United States! Youtube is a magical thing these days!

#5 Color Trends

The images above (from FashionSnoops.com) display the growing Spring-time trend of the color coral.  The vibrant color is not only shown as an accent color but a color used widely in garments ranging from a spring day-dress to a gown, a blazer, and even pants.  The color is a perfect way to bridge the gloomy winter and anticipated summer in the fashionable season of Spring.  The coral tone is found within the store windows with Spring in the consumer's mind as well as on fashion forecasting sites for upcoming seasons.  I love this color and can't wait to incorporate it into my wardrobe as well!

#4 Key Color From the Streets

The color I chose to document from the streets is a dark army-inspired green.  This look has been commonly seen throughout the fall and winter season.  It seems that it will continue to appear come spring time as well.  I was plesantly surprised to see this trend of a color was found on not only women but men too! From jackets, to rain boots, to hats an accessories this color was sweeping New York on this overcast windy drizzly day.  I set out looking for the green thinking it would be difficult and yet I found that maybe, just maybe, this new military green may be replacing New York's favorite color...black...nah!
